Setting Intentions To Build Your Today and Tomorrow

Intentions are a vital part to living the feng shui lifestyle. Why? Because your thoughts, spoken words and habits contribute to your over all life experiences. Besides the obvious financial and knowledge exchange between a client and their consultant, there is also an energy exchange that takes place.

To honor that particular energy, its common for feng shui consultants to ask their clients to write out intentions. These are not necessarily "wish lists." Think of intention writing as an opportunity for your spirit to fine tune what it attracts during this life time. Perhaps it could be experiencing love or running a successful business, raising a child, to live healthy, to embrace change or learn to forgive, to have fun or travel beyond your comfort zone and be adventurous, etc.

Essentially, the more detailed you when setting your intentions, the better "Universe" can support you.

Intention Writing Exercise:

  • Take a piece of paper and write down at least 3-9 intentions. Use positive language. i.e. "I am open and receptive to receiving a partner who is emotionally available, playful, grounded, etc"
  • Place your written intentions inside a red envelope (This symbolizes honor and protection). If you cannot, then use red paper or at least red ink when writing.
  • Place the unsealed red envelope in an area of your home that you feel is sacred (some may have an altar) or a feel good area within your home where you spend a lot of time.
  • Honor your intentions by taking action to nurture them.

i.e. If you seek to learn a new language, research classes and enroll or connect with people who can help you. If you envision yourself being healthy, become more mindful with the food choices you make.

You can see this exercise is very practical and offers common sense suggestions. Yet, by setting intentions each year, and as need be refreshing them every 3-6 months, this could become a great reminder helping you to maintain your focus on what is important.
